Special Ticket Price Promotion Drives Sales
The decision to offer tickets for the Bafana Bafana’s Afcon qualifier against Morocco at a discounted price of R20 has proven to be a success.
By Tuesday, more than 20,000 tickets had already been sold.
The special promotion, which ran from June 1-8, allowed fans to purchase tickets at a significantly reduced price.
However, the ticket price has now returned to the original R50, meaning those who still wish to attend the game will need to pay R30 more than they would have earlier this month.
Optimistic Ticket Sales Target
Stadium Management South Africa CEO, Bertie Grobbelaar, expressed optimism regarding ticket sales, aiming to reach a target of at least 50,000 tickets sold before Saturday’s kick-off.
As of Tuesday morning, actual ticket sales reached 20,300, with an additional 20,000 complementary tickets already claimed.
Furthermore, hospitality and suite tickets accounted for 567 sales, bringing the total to at least 40,000 tickets sold.
Grobbelaar anticipated that with the inclusion of complementary tickets, the target of 50,000 tickets sold would be achieved by Saturday.
Promising Attendance Expectations
Although ticket sales have not been exceptionally rapid, it is anticipated that the crowd at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg will at least fill half of the venue, which would be pleasing for coach Hugo Broos and the team.
Both Bafana Bafana and Morocco have already secured qualification for the upcoming continental tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
Injury Update and Team Excitement
The team doctor confirmed that there are no significant injuries among the players at the moment, adding that everyone is eagerly looking forward to the match against Morocco on Saturday.
