Arthur Zwane is embarking on a fresh journey with Kaizer Chiefs, taking on the role of senior academy coach.
This new position marks a significant change from his previous stint as the club’s head coach, a role he held during a challenging period for the team.
The Chiefs have struggled to win silverware in recent years, with their last trophy coming back in 2016.
Zwane’s New Responsibilities and Vision
There had been some uncertainty about Zwane’s role last season, but Kaizer Motaung Jr, the club’s Sporting Director, has now clarified his responsibilities.
Zwane will be in charge of overseeing all age groups within the academy, ensuring they adhere to the club’s philosophy.
His role also includes contributing to the scouting department.
In a recent appearance at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Legacy Cup, where the Chiefs Legends faced off against the KZN Legends, Zwane shared his thoughts on his new position.
He emphasized his commitment to meeting the high expectations associated with his role and reaffirmed his dedication to Kaizer Chiefs.
Zwane expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s a huge responsibility to be given this role by a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, regardless of the position.
You’re always expected to perform at the highest level. My passion for football is strong, and I’m grateful for this opportunity.
It doesn’t matter if I’m with the first team or the academy, as long as I’m doing what I love.
Many people work jobs they don’t enjoy, but I feel blessed to be here and I appreciate it.
Knowing where you come from is important; you must prepare and pray for success.”
Mduduzi Shabalala’s Impressive Performance
On a brighter note for Kaizer Chiefs, young talent Mduduzi Shabalala has been making waves.
In a recent behind-closed-doors friendly against SuperSport United, Shabalala delivered an outstanding performance, scoring twice and leading Chiefs to a 2-0 win.
His performance has been a promising indicator of his readiness for the upcoming Betway Premiership season.
Mixed Pre-Season for Amakhosi
Kaizer Chiefs have had a mixed pre-season, with varying results in their friendly matches.
After a 3-0 defeat to TS Galaxy and a loss to Yanga, the team found their stride with a 2-0 victory over Chippa United, thanks to goals from Christian Saile and Rushwin Dortley.
They also managed a 2-1 win against Highlands Park FC, highlighted by a double from Ranga Chivaviro.
Their latest triumph against SuperSport United has given them a boost as they prepare for the new season.
What’s Next?
As Kaizer Chiefs look ahead, the focus will be on building on these pre-season performances and preparing for the challenges of the upcoming season.
With new roles, emerging talents, and a renewed sense of optimism, the team is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting period.
