Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), issued a stern warning during his operational visit to the Headquarters 82 Division of the Nigerian Army.

He emphasized the imperative for soldiers to strictly adhere to regulations and the core values of the Nigerian Army, cautioning against impulsive decisions or engaging in criminal activities.

Warning Against Social Media Exposure

In his address, General Lagbaja cautioned soldiers about the dangers of social media, highlighting its propensity to spread false and harmful information.

He urged them to shield themselves from its adverse impact, citing instances where misinformation has caused significant harm.

Reinforcing Commitment and Loyalty

The COAS urged soldiers of the Nigerian Army, particularly those in the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDOKA and the 82 Division, to uphold their allegiance and loyalty to their constitutional duties as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution.

Welfare Interventions and Operational Performance

During the interaction, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Army Chief Major, disclosed that the government had settled outstanding Group Life Assurance claims dating back to 2011 and initiated the payment of accident insurance for troops.

He stressed the need for increased operational effectiveness while emphasizing discipline and loyalty as crucial elements in addressing the nation’s security challenges.

Army’s Stance on Discipline and Professionalism

General Lagbaja underscored the importance of discipline within the Nigerian Army, emphasizing its honorable and disciplined nature.

He cautioned against any acts of indiscipline among soldiers, asserting that the profession holds no room for criminal behavior while reiterating the Army’s intolerance towards misconduct during duty within local communities.
