Anambra NUJ New Exco Holds First Executive Council, Stakeholders Meeting In Awka

The newly-elected executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, has held its first State Executive Council and stakeholders meeting to cross fertilize ideas on how to move the union forward.

 

The meeting held at the Godwin Ezeemo Press Centre, Awka was attended by media executives and stakeholders including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr Uche Nworah, the immediate-past Head, Department of Mass Communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Chinwe Uzochukwu.

At the meeting, members of the union also brainstormed on how best to help the new executive achieve  its targets.

 

In a welcome address, the new chairman of the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Dr Emeka Odogwu, while pointing out that the collective interest of the union remains the priority of his administration, revealed some of their efforts so far , including the attraction of some stakeholders to develop the NUJ secretariat, proper surveying of the NUJ premises, among others.

 

In his remarks, the ABS Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nworah, who was the resource person at the meeting, urged journalists to cultivate the business aspect of the profession, especially at the moment when the audience is tuning off from the conventional media channels.

 

Dr Nworah who noted that traditional trends are fast fading out, pushing content marketing mostly online, made a call for journalists to immediately begin to re-strategize, to take responsibility for their outputs, training and to rejig their content formula.

A former chairman of the union in Anambra State, Sir Victor Agusiobo in his speech urged the new executive to incorporate consistent efforts to reach its goals, without leaving any member behind.
