AmaZulu FC President Sandile Zungu Promises Fans a Trophy-Winning 2024/25 Season and Top Four Finish in the Betway Premiership

AmaZulu FC’s president, Sandile Zungu, is setting the stage for a transformative 2024/25 season.

Reflecting on last season’s performance, which saw the team finish 11th in the DStv Premiership (now known as the Betway Premiership) with 36 points from 30 games, Zungu acknowledges that their performance fell short of expectations.

For the second consecutive year, the Durban-based club missed out on the top eight, meaning they won’t be participating in the MTN8 this season.

However, Zungu is determined to turn things around and has made it clear that AmaZulu’s goal is to win silverware and secure a spot in continental competitions for the 2025/26 season.

Ambitious Goals Set by Zungu

“I’m promising our fans that for the 2024/25 season, our focus is on bringing the trophy home,” Zungu said.

“This is the year we want to finish in the top four and qualify for CAF competitions, whether it’s the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup.

Our goal is to be in the top three, or even better, win the league if we can.”

Zungu believes the current squad, with its blend of talented players and experienced coaches, is more than capable of clinching the league title.

Recent Developments

In recent action, AmaZulu participated in the KZN Premier’s Cup, where they overcame Golden Arrows 2-1 in the quarterfinals but fell 3-0 to Royal AM in the semifinals.

To bolster their chances this season, AmaZulu has made several key signings, including Kwanda Mngonyama, Luvuyo Phewa, Etiosa Ighodaro, Boniface Haba, Senzo Ndlovu, Leonardo Roy, and Thato Matli.

Additionally, the club has appointed Aubrey Vilakazi as the new goalkeeper coach, succeeding Wayne Sandilands. Vilakazi previously worked with the club’s DStv Diski Challenge team.
