AmaZulu FC defender Sandile Khumalo secures a second consecutive loan spell with Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship

AmaZulu FC’s defender Sandile Khumalo will be spending another season on loan at Black Leopards, competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

This marks his second consecutive year with the Limpopo-based team, following his stint during the 2023/24 season.

Khumalo had returned to AmaZulu after last season and even participated in pre-season training with the squad.

However, his return to top-flight football will have to wait as he continues his journey with Black Leopards.

The club announced his extended loan with a message of encouragement: “Good luck and all the best, Mbaye,” they shared on social media.

More Player Movements at AmaZulu

Khumalo isn’t the only player on the move from AmaZulu.

Leonardo Rooi, another member of the Durban-based club, has secured a season-long loan to Durban City FC.

Alongside him, Thato Matli, who was signed during this transfer window, will also be loaned out for the upcoming season.

Despite these departures, AmaZulu has been busy reinforcing their squad.

New signings include Andiswa Sithole, Luvuyo Phewa, Kwanda Mngonyama, Boniface Haba, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Senzo Ndlovu, all of whom are expected to contribute to the team’s aspirations for the season.

Coach Pablo Franco Martin’s Take on the Squad

AmaZulu’s head coach, Pablo Franco Martin, is optimistic about the team’s prospects.

When asked about the squad’s current state, Martin shared that while coaches always aim to bring in more talent, he’s pleased with the depth and competition within the squad this season.

“We always want more, but I’m happy,” Martin expressed.

“We have a wider squad than last season, and we’re seeing competition in positions where it didn’t exist before.

It’s not just about the new signings but also the growth of the players who stayed.”

He also highlighted the importance of retaining key players like Riaan Hanamub, Mlondi Mbanjwa, and Tshepang Moremi.

Despite receiving offers for these players, they remain integral parts of the team, contributing to the overall strength of the squad.

As AmaZulu gears up for the new season, Martin is hopeful that this combination of new additions and player development will lead to better results than last year.
