…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Former Presidential aide Reno Omokri has expressed his opinion that if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the Labour Party (LP) were in power, they would have also implemented the sudden devaluation of the Naira and removal of fuel subsidy, similar to President Bola Tinubu’s actions.
Avoiding Hypocrisy in Criticism
Omokri, a socio-political commentator, shared his thoughts on social media, emphasizing that criticizing Tinubu for actions that the opposition parties would have taken would be hypocritical.
Recognizing Tinubu’s Steps and Identifying Necessary Measures
According to Omokri, Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State, has taken commendable and patriotic steps.
Omokri believes that the key requirement now is to increase the minimum wage and civil servants’ salaries.
Limits to Tinubu’s Authority
Omokri acknowledges that Tinubu cannot implement these changes without the involvement of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and the National Assembly.
Promise to Hold Tinubu Accountable
While expressing his support for Tinubu’s current actions, Omokri asserts that if the President makes any wrong moves, he will oppose him with the same vigor and energy that he used against Tinubu’s predecessor, referring to his #BuhariTormentor campaign.
However, Omokri clarifies that blind opposition based solely on party affiliation is not his approach.
A Balanced Approach
Omokri concludes by stating that those expecting him to mindlessly oppose Tinubu due to his political affiliation will have to wait indefinitely, as his support or opposition will be based on careful evaluation and analysis of Tinubu’s actions in due course.
