South African Football Legend Linda Buthelezi Urges Kaizer Chiefs to Invest in Samkelo Zwane’s Development as He Showcases Leadership Potential in Recent Matches

A former Bafana Bafana player, Linda Buthelezi, has expressed strong belief in the potential of Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane.

Buthelezi’s comments highlight the promise he sees in the young talent, suggesting that Zwane could play a significant role in the national team.

Limited Opportunities for Zwane

Since stepping up to the senior squad in 2022, Samkelo Zwane hasn’t had the chance to shine as much as he might like.

His appearances have been limited, but he did manage to get on the pitch twice under new coach Nasreddine Nabi, including a standout performance during a 4-0 victory against SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Buthelezi notes that Zwane is starting to demonstrate leadership qualities, which is promising for his future.

A Bright Future Ahead

Buthelezi firmly believes that Zwane has what it takes to excel at Kaizer Chiefs.

“I still say Zwane can shine and be a star at Kaizer Chiefs if he can be given a chance, just like Jayden Adams,” he shared with FARPost.

He emphasizes Zwane’s impressive passing ability and tactical thinking, suggesting that he could be a strong competitor for fellow midfielder Sphephelo Sithole.

“He can compete with Sithole. He is a good replacement for him.”

Character Counts

Buthelezi also underscores the importance of character in a midfielder.

“As a midfielder, you need to have a character. I don’t care whether they like you or not, but you must have a character for the team,” he stated.

For Buthelezi, being a team player is crucial, and he believes that Zwane has the potential to fulfill that role.

Coach Nabi’s Recognition

After the recent victory over SuperSport in the Carling Knockout Cup, coach Nabi acknowledged Zwane’s progress.

He noted, “It’s true that Samkelo Zwane has worked a lot in the past few months.

We believe that he has changed because before, there were some tactical issues and concentration because he’s still young.”

This recognition from the coach reflects Zwane’s dedication and potential for growth in the team.

Looking Ahead

Since making his debut, Samkelo Zwane has played in 26 matches for Amakhosi, with most of his earlier appearances coming under former coach Arthur Zwane, who has since transitioned to AmaZulu.

Fans are eager to see how Zwane will continue to develop and contribute to the team’s success in the future.
