A former Jets quarterback, Boomer Esiason, has raised eyebrows by suggesting there’s a troubling rift between star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh.

Reflecting on his own experiences with coaches, he said, “I had those days with two coaches in particular, and it’s because I didn’t trust the guy, and I didn’t like the guy.”
He then compared his own past frustrations to what he perceives in Rodgers, emphasizing that it’s clear something isn’t right between the quarterback and coach.

Esiason’s concerns gained traction after a somewhat awkward exchange during the postgame press conference.
When Saleh questioned whether the Jets were “good enough” to handle their current pre-snap cadence—especially after five false starts against Denver—Rodgers seemed to take offense.
“That’s one way to do it. The other way is to hold them accountable,” he remarked, suggesting that the team hadn’t faced such issues until recently.
Additionally, there was a moment during the game against the Patriots where Rodgers and Saleh had a tense sideline interaction.
After the Jets took the lead, Rodgers lightly shoved Saleh, leading many fans to speculate that he was signaling it was “too early” for the coach to celebrate.
However, Rodgers later downplayed the incident, stating, “It wasn’t awkward at all,” and clarified that he was actually referencing a “two-score lead,” which is a phrase Saleh often uses.
