In a recent shift, Orlando Pirates have streamlined their crowded central midfield by sending Siphelo Baloni on loan to Chippa United.
Siphelo Baloni Heads to Chippa United
Siphelo Baloni, who was a standout performer in the 2022/23 season with All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, has made a notable move.
After joining Orlando Pirates and making only nine appearances, Baloni has now been loaned to Chippa United for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old midfielder is seeking more regular playing time in the Betway Premiership and has already relocated to Gqeberha.
As reported by SABC Sport, “Orlando Pirates midfielder Siphelo Baloni is set to join Chippa United on loan for the season.”
The paperwork for this move is expected to be finalized by the end of the week.
Baloni is eager for more game time and will be looking to make an impact with the Chilli Boys.
Confirmation of the Move
iDiski Times has confirmed that Baloni has begun training with Chippa United.
According to their report, “Pirates have agreed with Chippa for Baloni to join the Eastern Cape side on a season-long loan.”
The midfielder arrived in Gqeberha and started training with his new team on Tuesday morning.
Interestingly, Chippa United will face Orlando Pirates this weekend at Orlando Stadium, adding an intriguing twist to Baloni’s debut.
Zakhele Lepasa’s Future in Question
Orlando Pirates might also be parting ways with striker Zakhele Lepasa soon.
Coach Jose Riveiro seems to favor Tshegofatso Mabasa and Evidence Makgopa over Lepasa.
SuperSport United is reportedly interested in acquiring the 27-year-old forward, especially after an injury to Bradley Grobelar.
iDiski Times has noted that “SuperSport United have shifted their focus to out-of-favor Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa as the transfer window nears its end.”
The situation around Lepasa could see further developments as the window closes.
