In a tragic turn of events on Scotland’s busiest motorway, a serious crash has left several people fighting for their lives.
The accident occurred on the M8 in Glasgow around 1pm on Wednesday, shutting down the eastbound lanes and sending shockwaves through the community.
Following the collision, a 27-year-old man was taken into custody.
He’s scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later today. The crash involved a Mercedes A45, which reportedly collided with an unmarked Volvo S90 police car and a Mercedes CLS parked on the hard shoulder.
Injuries and Hospitalization
Among the injured were two police officers, ages 38 and 48, and two men from the Mercedes CLS, aged 31 and 43. The 48-year-old officer and the 43-year-old man are both in critical condition.
The other officer and the 31-year-old man have since been treated and discharged from the hospital.
Details of the Mercedes A45 Occupants
The Mercedes A45 was occupied by three men, ages 27, 33, and 39. The 27-year-old and the 39-year-old initially left the scene but were later found nearby and taken to the hospital.
The 39-year-old remains in critical condition, while the 33-year-old is being treated for serious injuries. The remaining occupant was discharged and later arrested for road traffic offenses.
Ongoing Investigation
The arrested man has since been charged in connection with an unrelated matter. T
